In the spring of 2005, Ir. Guido Van Camp who has been involved in the natural stone business for over 25 years, was driving past a fancy country house in a residential area near Antwerp (Belgium), when suddenly his attention was caught by the image of the landlord paving the driveway of his country house by himself with quite ordinary brick stones.

Mr. Van Camp realised at that moment what the fundamental advantage was of brick stones in comparison with natural stones: the homogeneity and uniformity of the brick stones allow them to be paved easily and at high pace by any non-skilled individual. Natural stones on the contrary require the care of experienced craftsmen as they show an inherent lack of uniformity. These craftsmen however are scanty and expensive.

Mr. Van Camp realized that if he wanted to create a competitive position for natural stone, he had to find a solution to tackle the above issue… A couple of nights afterwards, Ir. Guido Van Camp came up with his solution: the internationally patented ecostone^® paving system.
